SHOTrep: High Risk Training

By: Fifty Shades of FDE

When it comes to plate carriers, there’s a lot of options to choose from. I stopped by the High Risk Training booth and took a look at their new HRAC II Maximus Plate Carrier and Chest Rig system.

The guys at High Risk Training are new to the market when it comes to making kit. They come from the tactical training business and decided to make gear that would fit their needs as well as those in the military and law enforcement communities that they train.

The HRAC II Maximus system was developed with the input from MSG(ret) Howard “Mad Max” Mullen, who is also in the US Army Ranger Hall of Fame.

They are made overseas to keep the cost down and keep it affordable for those that need quality kit at the right price point. I was able to take a close look at the carriers and chest rigs in the booth and they looked and felt like quality products. I wore the HRAC II and it was very comfortable and allowed for full arm movement.

Placard Options

Most plate carrier systems are modular these days with fast clips and placards. What makes the HRAC II Maximus system stand out is the back panel can be configured in more ways than one. You can mount whatever pouches you need based on your mission requirements. You won’t have to choose one pouch or another, it can be divided up with many different options so there is more versatility available.

The chest rig is also innovative, the placard could be removed without taking the straps off and disassembling the rig. It makes the plug and play between chest rig to plate carrier less of an either or system and makes it much easier to switch back and forth.

Here’s HRT’s description of the HRAC II:
The HRT HRAC II is a multirole versatile plate carrier that is designed to be extremely modular allowing operators to navigate obstacles. The HRAC II is easy to don and doff, while holding life-saving plates. The carrier is made from 500 Denier Cordura treated with DuPont Teflon and has an integrated Duraflex Buckle attachment system on the chest to instantly don/doff additional equipment based on your operational needs. Our proprietary dual back panel design features dual zipper sections to allow users to configure the back of the carrier with a multitude of panel options based on your specific tasks.
